Bob’s Red Mill, the top grain producer, announced it needs to close its Whole Grain Store and Cafe in Milwaukie, Oregon. Customers have frequented the store for years to buy nutritional ingredients and eat fresh foods from the cafe. The company needs to reduce costs, so it has closed the whole grain business.

Why is the Store Closing?

Over many years of operation, the cafe and store at The Whole Grain Store have consistently reported monetary losses. Despite excellent customer assistance the business operation failed to succeed. The organization plans to shift its attention to grocery stores and online sales instead of managing both a retail store and a restaurant.

CEO Winthrop confirmed his challenging decision aims to save the enterprise from decline. The establishment began operations in 2003 to provide shoppers with unique product choices. All United States supermarkets currently sell products from Bob’s Red Mill. As time passed the store became less crucial to the business.

Closure Dates and Discounts

The store’s permanent closure will happen over two periods of time.

  • The cafe plans to serve its customers for the final time on February 9, 2025.
  • The store will shut down its operations for good on February 17th, 2025.

As part of its strategy to sell remaining stock, the organization provides reduced item prices.

  •  50% off everything in the store
  •  60% off for senior citizens

Customers flock to the store in big numbers while standing in long lines to save on their preferred items.

Impact on Employees

Many people are most worried about their effect on employees. The store and cafe employ 44 people—25 in the cafe and 19 in the store. Many of Bob’s Red Mill employees will no longer work at the company beyond February 17, 2025.

The organization maintains 20 available job spots while all existing staff members need to search for new employment opportunities. The organization urges affected staff members to make job applications but several workers still won’t know their future positions.

A Big Change After Bob Moore’s Passing

Bob’s Red Mill made this announcement exactly one year after founder Bob Moore passed away in February 2024. Bob Moore established his company Bob’s Red Mill through his dedication to maintaining whole grain food for healthy nutrition. His creative concept made the company popular with people everywhere.

Even though the physical store is gone the company remains committed to selling top-quality health foods to its customers. The retail public will be able to purchase Bob’s Red Mill products from their local grocery stores and through Internet shopping platforms.

The End of an Era, But Not the Brand

The majority of customers express sadness about the store’s closure but Bob’s Red Mill experiences strong operations. Bob’s Red Mill supporters can find its leading flours, grains, and baking mixes from other retail locations. Despite losing the Whole Grain Store and Cafe the business remains dedicated to helping health-conscious customers all over the United States.
