Cooling In The Later Half Of The Week

The soaring temperatures in Northern California are set to witness a fall in the latter half of the week, beginning Wednesday. The meteorologists also expect showers as well as wet snowflakes on Thursday. However, those who are planning to travel on Thursday do not have to worry, as the temperature will cool down and nothing will impact outdoor travel. Friday is being considered the day of Impact when the conditions will get a little wetter in the morning. The snow levels will also be low enough for some light accumulations at the summits. Saturday, on the other hand, is expected to remain dry. However, Sunday may bring more rain as well as high-elevation snow.

Beach Hazard Statement in Northern California

NWS Eureka, CA, officially issued a beach hazards statement Tuesday night that will stay in effect until Wednesday at 2 p.m. The statement is meant for Coastal Del Norte, Northern Humboldt Coast, Southwestern Humboldt, and Mendocino Coast. According to the official statement, large and unexpected waves may sweep across the beach without warning. These sneaker waves may sweep people into the sea from rocks, jetties, and beaches. They can also move heavy objects. The NWC especially warned people not to be fooled by a calm-looking sea. It takes 30 minutes of small waves for the sneaker waves to strike. The statement urged people to stay away from rocks, jetties, and steep beaches and never turn their backs to the ocean.

Wind Advisory Issued Due to Record-Breaking Heatwave in Northern California

NWS Sacramento, CA, also issued a wind advisory on Wednesday that is going to stay in effect from 2 PM to Thursday at 8 PM. The official advisory is for people living in areas like Northern Sacramento Valley, Central Sacramento Valley, Mountains, Southwestern Shasta County, Western Colusa County, and Northeast Foothills/Sacramento Valley. According to the official advisory, South winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected.

The strongest gust of wind up to 45 mph is expected this afternoon and evening. It will then briefly decrease overnight and then increase again on Thursday. The NWS warned about potential power outages as the winds will blow around unsecured objects. It has also urged people to practice extra caution while driving as the gusty winds may make it difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
