SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ? Quest Software Inc. shares rose Friday after the business software maker reported third-quarter results ahead of analyst expectations.
Quest earned $21.5 million, or 25 cents per share, for the quarter that ended Sept. 30, down 25 percent from $28.5 million, or 31 cents per share, in the third quarter a year earlier.
Excluding one-time items, Quest earned 41 cents per share. Analysts polled by FactSet expected 35 cents per share.
Revenue rose 14 percent year over year to $220 million. The company’s license revenue rose to $87.9 million from $80.6 million, while services revenue rose to $132 million from $112 million.
Analysts expected total revenue of $216 million in the latest quarter.
The company’s shares rose $1.47, or 8.2 percent, to finish trading at $19.48.
