Home Shopping Network (HSN) recently inked a deal with royalty–well, hip-hop?s queen, Queen Latifah. The actress/singer/rapper/entrepreneur will debut her own clothing line called the Queen Collection on HSN this August. ??
“Mindy Grossman, chief executive officer of HSN, Inc., facilitated the relationship with Queen Latifah,” says HSN spokesperson Brad Bohnert on how the deal came about. “Queen Latifah had always wanted to start her very own line and was familiar with other HSN designers such as IMAN and Mariah Carey. Mindy sat down with Queen Latifah to discuss the collaboration and the marriage was made. They share a similar point of view in that fashion should be stylish, a true extension of who you are, and comfortable at the same time. Queen Latifah instantly knew that HSN was the ideal retail channel for her to create a collection with, given it would allow her to share the inspiration behind her collection and tell her brand?s story in her own voice.”??
The clothes will have a large range of sizes, from?2 to 24. “Queen Latifah?s top priority in designing the collection was to be able to create stylish, comfortable and affordable designs for every woman. Her personal wardrobe was her inspiration. Due to HSN?s wide consumer reach and story-telling capabilities, Queen Latifah will be able to connect with women across the country and give them the chance to buy fashionable apparel, outerwear and handbags at accessible price points,” says Bohnert. ???
But the collection will not just stop at clothing. The Queen Collection will be a full lifestyle brand, her first ever.?Debuting in August, it will include apparel, handbags and outerwear. Then in September, she will unveil a hair extension line. Priced under $100, the apparel line features layering pieces such as jackets and coats. The line’s handbags and outerwear styles–all?leathers and suede–are priced between $170 and $300. “The Queen Collection will include apparel and outerwear lines consisting of easy-to-wear basics, casual sweaters, great fitting jeans, leggings and tees,” says Bohnert. “The line?s handbags and outerwear styles will have such design features as studded details, zippers and moto silhouettes.” The hair products will be a custom line of Natural Wavy Clip-On hair extensions, 100% Remy Indian hair extensions. The Queen hair extension collection starts at just over $100.??
According to Bohnert, Latifah?s line will stand out from other celebrity brands. “Any woman who wishes to feel like a queen! The collection ranges in top sizes from x-small to xxx-large and bottom sizes from 2 to 24. The designs were created to complement a wide range of body types from petites to plus size,” he notes. “Queen Latifah?s line is unique in the fact that she designed the collection for all different types of women. She didn?t hone in on one specific shape or size, but instead is offering women of various shapes and sizes the opportunity to wear her collection.”
