SHANGHAI (AP) ? Proview Electronics says it is now seeking to regain worldwide rights to the iPad name and is suing Apple Inc. for alleged fraud and unfair competition.
The Taiwan-based maker of LED lights said in a release late Monday that it had amended its lawsuit filed in Santa Clara, California’s Superior Court. It is seeking to have its 2009 sale of iPad trademarks to Apple ruled void and to regain the worldwide rights to the name.
Proview earlier insisted it held the rights to the trademark in mainland China.
A Chinese court is due Wednesday to rule on an appeal by Apple of an earlier judgment against the U.S. company’s claim to the trademark in China.
