Police Shooting Of Ryan Hinton And Subsequent Killing Of Deputy By His Father: The city of Cincinnati was left in utter shock after two back-to-back high-profile killings unfolded in just two days. According to the latest updates from the officials, both killings seem to be connected. This Thursday, Cincinnati Police ended up shooting an 18-year-old who was reportedly fleeing from them and was armed. The very next day, Cincinnati’s sheriff’s deputy Larry Henderson was hit by a car, which was reportedly been driven by the dead teen’s aggrieved father. Rodney Hinton Jr. is charged with aggravated murder, but no motivation behind his crime has come out yet. If you are someone who wants to know more about the two killings, this article is for you.

The Shooting Of 18-Year-Old Ryan Hinton And The Grieving Family

According to what the police officials have said, Ryan Hinton was found in a stolen car and attempted to run away from the police. The officials also reported that Ryan was armed when he came face-to-face with the police on Thursday. Ryan’s family reviewed the police bodycam footage, which revealed a police officer firing four to five shots, two of which hit the boy. According to the statement from the officer who fired the shots, it seemed like the boy was pointing the gun at him, which made him feel threatened for his life. However, the blurry bodycam footage did not clearly capture the moment.

Ryan’s grandmother, who was very close to the family, mentioned how this should have never happened. She stated that black people don’t deserve to be killed just because they run away from the police.

The Killing Of Cincinnati’s Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Henderson

Michael Wright, the attorney for the Hinton family, mentioned that the family was utterly surprised after hearing the circumstances of Ryan’s death. His father was particularly distraught after reviewing the bodycam footage on Friday and couldn’t even finish watching it. The next day, he was arrested for hitting Cincinnati’s sheriff’s deputy Larry Henderson with a car, which turned fatal for the deputy. Rodney Hinton Jr. was arraigned on Saturday, and according to what the prosecutors say, he lined up his car in a calculated and premeditated way, deliberately accelerated his car, and purposely caused the death of an on-duty deputy sheriff. His public defender requested a reasonable bond, mentioning how he understands there’s a lot of anger in the community. Rodney is charged with aggravated murder and is held without bond until the next hearing, which is scheduled on Tuesday.

Processions For The Dead Deputy Held On Friday

The processions for the dead deputy were held on Friday after he passed away from being hit by a car. He was honored for his long years of public service. McGuffey, the sheriff for the county that encompasses Cincinnati, called his death a tremendous loss that society has suffered. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine highly condemned whatever happened and called the incident an intentional act of violence. Wright, Rodney’s attorney, called the incident horrifically tragic on both sides as a family lost their son and a police officer lost his life.

Police Chief Requests People To Stay Calm

As the anger in the community rises, the police chief of Cincinnati has requested that people stay patient. He assured that the officials would thoroughly investigate both killings. The chief also mentioned that he’ll ensure transparency and thoroughness, and accuracy of the investigation himself.
