A single-engine small aircraft crashed into a retirement village parking lot in Pennsylvania on Sunday. There were five people on board all severely injured and taken to the hospital. Plane Crashes Into Retirement Village Parking: Exact Location Of The Crash

The small single-engine plane crash happened in Manheim Township which is located 137 km northwest of Philadelphia. It took off from the nearby Lancaster Airport en route to Springfield, Ohio. The plane reportedly burst into flames after crashing into a parking lot of the Brethren Village retirement community. Emergency services were immediately dispatched and the fire was extinguished shortly. The authorities determined that the plane was a Beechcraft Bonanza aircraft. It was reportedly carrying five people on board all severely injured.

Multiple People Reportedly Injured Into Plane Crash

The plane that crashed into the parking lot of the Brethren Village retirement community was carrying five people on board. All the people on board were reported severely injured. The emergency services took the five passengers to the nearby Lancaster General Hospital. After further examination, three of the five passengers were taken to the Lehigh Valley Burn Center. Two of the three passengers were airlifted while the remaining passenger was transported through EMS. The remaining two passengers were admitted to the Lancaster General Hospital. No ground injuries were reported after the crash.

Ground Impact Of The Crash

The plane crashed into a parking lot of a retirement village which could have led to significant ground injuries as well. However, no injured people on the ground were reported. The impact did not cause any damage to the surrounding infrastructure as well. The buildings surrounding the crash site were left intact. However, the vehicles parked in the parking lot were significantly damaged because of the crash. The plane burst into flames after the impact which later spread to the nearby vehicles. Route 501 which was located near the crash site was precautionarily closed.

Statements From The Authorities 

Duane Fisher who is the Chief of the Manheim Township Police made an official statement about the crash. Fisher mentioned in his media address that multiple vehicles have been damaged on impact. However, five of these vehicles faced severe damage. He also added that no infrastructure was hit after the impact of the crash. The authorities also issued a temporary shelter-in-place order which was lifted after the area was determined secure. Fisher also mentioned in his statement that the plane did not hit any infrastructure and everybody surviving in such a crash is no less than a miracle.

Investigation Underway 

The Federal Aviation Administration is currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. It recently confirmed the plane was a Beechcraft Bonanza. The involvement of the National Transportation Safety Board in the investigation is also expected. Josh Shapiro who is the governor of Pennsylvania took over his social media to inform that the local police are also on the scene. The Governor also confirmed the availability of the Commonwealth resources for the ongoing response to the plane crash..
