Oscar Star Missing After Mob Attack: Ihab Hassan Reports The Incident 

Ihab Hassan, an online activist who often posts about the latest news and developments from Gaza, took over his X platform to report about the incident. Hassan reported through his post on X that Israeli settlers lynched Hamdan Ballal, the co-director of the documentary film “No Other Land.” He also added that Hamdan was severely beaten by the settlers. It happened during a large-scale attack on the village of Susya. He also reported that the settlers raided homes, hurled stones, smashed windows and vehicles, and violently assaulted residents and solidarity activists. Many people are reportedly injured.

Hassan Attached Videos Of The Incident On X

According to the reporting Ihab Hassan has done, the ambulances arrived for Hamdan, but Israeli soldiers stormed it and took him. Ihab also added that there has been no sign of him since then. Hassan attached a few videos as well which he claims are of the incident. The first video appears to be taken from the backseat of a car. A sound that seemed like a blunt object hitting the car was heard in the video with a woman saying, “Get in the car.” The second video posted is of someone throwing a punch at another while someone off-camera yells, “No.” 

Israeli Military Looking Into The Episode 

The attack on Hamdan Ballal reportedly happened when a large group of Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian village. This village is known as the village of Susya and is located in the Masafer Yatta area. Ihab Hassan also added in a follow-up post claiming Hamdan Ballal was arrested by the Israeli Army. According to the Associated Press, the Israeli military is looking into the episode.

Yuval Abraham’s Statement 

The documentary film “No Other Land,” apart from Hamdan Ballal, has three more directors. The other three directors are Basel Adra, Yuval Abraham, and Rachel Szor. Hamdan Ballal and Basel Adra are Palestinian, while Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor are Israeli. Yuval also took over his X account and made a statement about the incident. He also accepted in his statement that a group of lynchers attacked Hamdan Ballal, the co-director of their documentary film “No Other Land.” He added that the lynchers beat him up and he got injured in his head and stomach. Yuval also added that Hamdan was bleeding. He also claimed that the soldiers invaded the ambulance he called, and took him. There has been no sign of Hamdan Ballal since then.

Miki Zohar’s Statement About The Documentary 

The documentary film won several awards along with an Oscar. Miki Zohar, who is the cultural minister of Israel, criticized the Oscar win of the film, calling it a sad moment for the world of cinema. He also added to his statement that the filmmakers of the documentary film chose to amplify narratives that distort Israel’s image.
