The beginning of this month saw communications strategist and industry veteran Tony Ferguson officially begin his term as the new president of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Los Angeles Chapter. Industry leaders estimate he will bring from his nearly three decades of experience a bold and inclusive vision for the chapter’s future, grounded in deep commitment to professional empowerment, cross-sector collaboration, and innovation in communication.

Ferguson is widely recognized for his groundbreaking work within Black entertainment and artistry. Now at the helm of PRSA LA, he is focusing on increasing membership through intentional outreach and value-driven programming; elevating campaigns that reflect the cultural landscape of Los Angeles; serving young professionals with targeted development opportunities; and strengthening collaboration between entertainment and sports publicists across the region.

“Taking on this leadership role at PRSA LA is not just about vision—it’s about action,” he says. “I look forward to building a stronger, more engaged chapter where professionals from all sectors can find inspiration, mentorship, and a true sense of community.”

Ferguson launched his professional journey at Columbia Records in New York City, where he rose through the ranks to become vice president of media. Over the years he has led strategic communications for major players in entertainment, sports, and the nonprofit world. As principal of Society House, a boutique Los Angeles-based public relations firm, he has spearheaded campaigns for a diverse range of clients—from Fortune 500 brands and music powerhouses to TV and film projects, non-profit organizations, and corporate ventures.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ferguson serves as a Special Olympics certified coach, is a board member of Just Us 4 Youth in Pomona, and an active member of the Recording Academy. He continues to mentor rising PR talent and promote authentic, community-rooted storytelling.
