WASHINGTON (AP) ? President Barack Obama will meet with the president of Honduras at the White House early next month.

The White House says Obama looks forward to discussing a range of bilateral and regional economic and security issues when he sits down with President Porfirio Lobo in the Oval Office on Oct. 5. Obama is interested in hearing more about Lobo’s efforts to restore democratic and constitutional order in Honduras, and the country’s return earlier this to the Organization of American States.

Lobo was elected in late 2009 after the previous president was driven from office by a coup. Honduras was kicked out of the organization after Manuel Zelaya’s (zuh-LY’-uh) ouster but recently was readmitted after Zelaya was allowed to return to the Central American country.
