WASHINGTON (AP) ? President Barack Obama is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the National Italian American Foundation awards gala this week.
The foundation says Saturday night’s black-tie affair at a Washington hotel will be one of the largest gatherings of Italian-Americans in the country. Obama will help celebrate Italian American heritage and culture, as well as commemorate the 150th anniversary of Italy’s unification and National Italian American Heritage Month.
House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi (puh-LOH’-see), Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito (ahl-EE’-toh) and former FBI Director Louis Freeh (LOO’-ee free) are among the more famous Italian-Americans expected to attend.
