HAMPTON, Va. (AP) ? President Barack Obama is promoting parts of his jobs bill that could help veterans and wounded troops find jobs.

Obama said Wednesday in Virginia that every company should want to hire veterans because of their leadership experience, mastery of cutting-edge technology and other skills. But unemployment among veterans is high.

Obama wants Congress to approve separate tax credits worth thousands of dollars for businesses that hire veterans who’ve been out of work for at least six months, including those with disabilities.

Obama was joined at a military facility in Hampton, Va., by his wife, Michelle. The first lady announced that the American Logistics Association has committed to hiring 25,000 veterans and military spouses by the end of 2013.

Mrs. Obama is leading a national campaign to rally the country around its veterans.
