This NOAA satellite image taken Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 10:45 AM EDT shows active weather over the Upper Midwest, Southeast, and Maine, while the rest of the Eastern US is seeing sunny and hot conditions. A large low pressure system spinning over Ontario pushed a cold front through the Upper Midwest and Central Plains triggering heavy showers and thunderstorms. At the same time, high pressure in the Southeast pushed ample moisture onshore triggering showers and thunderstorms across the South and into the Mid-Atlantic states. To the north, a low pressure system moved over Maine bringing moderate to light rainfall and clouds. Meanwhile, a ridge of high pressure over the eastern half of the country is producing hot and humid conditions across the Eastern US. (AP PHOTO/WEATHER UNDERGROUND)
