Technology Africa has recently awarded Austin Kwesi Okere with the Personality of the Year Award for 2012. Okere is the Chief Executive Officer for Computer Warehouse Group (CWG).
The award is given to recognize individuals that make a difference on the African continent by providing goods and services to emerging world markets.
Okere has been in instrumental player in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, and he has been recognized for his achievements by Technology Africa.
CMG is based in Kampala and is one of the continent?s leading ICT companies. The firm has recently opened solutions for the Ugandan market.
The entry into new African markets is a milestone for the growing ICT company.
CWG began as a small firm that sold Dell computers to companies around Nigeria. The firm was founded in 1992 and was the first Dell partner in Nigeria.
The firm quickly grew from a computer hardware merchant and became one of the most vibrant ICT providers in Africa. The company branched out from computer hardware and now offers communications, networking and tutorials for a variety of sectors.
Okere is one of the innovators at ICT and is known for his entrepreneurial spirit. Okere has been recognized for his hard work and was invited to teach at Columbia Business School in 2010. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology invited Okere to teach in 2011 and 2012. During his classes, he encouraged students, investors and entrepreneurs with the CWG success story.
Okere was presented the award by Gbenga Obadara, a Nigerian senator that is on the country?s committee for privatization. Obadara thanked Okere for a job well done.
Mr. Michael Manize, CWG?s country manager, hailed Okere as a leader in the ICT industry and affirmed that the company is dedicated to exceeding client expectations in the Internet technology sector.
