MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) ? President Obama says GOP lawmakers can make good on their anti-tax pledges by voting for his payroll tax cut extension.
Campaigning Tuesday in tax-averse New Hampshire, Obama noted Republicans so far have rejected his jobs bill — including its plan to extend and expand the cut in payroll taxes that fund Social Security.
But he says “in the spirit of Thanksgiving,” he and Democrats will offer them another chance next week on the payroll tax. Without action, the White House says taxes will rise by nearly $1,000 on average.
Said Obama: “Don’t be a Grinch. Don’t vote to raise taxes on working Americans during the holidays.”
