Samsung Galaxy S5?
According to Samsung mobile chief Lee Young
Hee, Samsung plans on releasing the newest version of the much lauded Galaxy S
smartphone by April, along with the launch of the upgraded version of the
Galaxy Gear smartwatch. And while they are not providing any details on what
can be expected from the new Galaxy S5, you can be sure that this electronic
giant will include additional functions and improvements to its flagship
smartphone to continually grow its share in the market.
What
Can Be Expected from the Samsung Galaxy S5?
While the actual specs of Samsung’s newest
smartphone is yet to be revealed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on
February, there are already a lot of speculations on what it would be bringing
to the table. According to SamMobile.com, the new Galaxy S5 will come in both standard
polycarbonate plastic and prime metal versions. The metal version will have a
metal case, a removable metallic back plate and a 2560 x 1440 Super AMOLED
display while the polycarbonate plastic version will feature a slighter lower
resolution (1920 x 1080). ?
SamMobile also said that the Galaxy S5 will
feature a 16 megapixel camera which
may or may not come with an optical image stabilizer (OIS) and powered by either
the Exynos 6 processor or a quad-core Snapdragon 805. If this is true, then the
Galaxy S5 would become one of the first smartphones ever to be powered by a
Snapdragon processor. There are also some speculations that the newest Galaxy
smartphone will feature a 64-bit processor but according to KGI Securities
analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this would be highly unlikely.
The S5 will most likely run on Android
4.4 KitKat but there are also some rumors that Samsung might also use the Tizen
mobile operating system, an innovative open-source standards-based software
platform that Samsung has co-developed with Intel.
Samsung is also pondering on the
possibility of featuring an eye scanner
in its smartphones after Apple included a fingerprint scanner to the iPhone 5c
but it is not yet clear if this feature will already be included in the S5. However,
please keep in mind that all of these are not yet official since the specs of
the new Galaxy S5 will only be revealed at the Mobile World Congress in
Barcelona on February.
Without a doubt, a lot of people are
eagerly waiting for the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S5 but you may have to
wait until April to get one. ??
