Necole J. Merritt
Group Vice President, Corporate Communications
Entergy Services, Inc., New Orleans, La.
With more than 25 years? experience in the field, Necole J. Merritt, corporate communications group vice president at Entergy Services Inc., compares communications to a really good novel.? ?A good novel keeps you engaged, invested and anticipating what?s next. Communications keeps you thinking ahead in anticipation of what?s next, while requiring you to remain engaged in the matters at hand,? she explains.
Prior to Entergy, Merritt was vice president of marketing and communications at Morehouse School of Medicine, and before that, vice president of public affairs at Cox Communications in Atlanta. She also held senior leadership positions at AT&T Corp., BellSouth Corp., and the Saturn division of General Motors Co., and was an adjunct instructor at Kennesaw State University, and at?Georgia Perimeter and Gwinnett Techni-cal colleges.
Merritt spends much of her downtime engaged in her quest to?visit all of the seven continents and to see the Seven Wonders of the World. ??Dora the Explorer? is the nickname I was given by my friends to recognize my love for travel. So far, I have only one continent left to visit,? Merritt says. ?I would love to be a citizen of the world, experiencing the culture, history, cuisine and people that make up the world.?
She believes in investing in the next generation, and mentors young women through organizations such as Cool Girls Inc. and Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta.
Merritt holds a bachelor?s degree in journalism from North-western University?s Medill School of Journalism and a master?s in communications from California State University at Northridge. She would like to be remembered for ?being intentional about living life ? being anchored by strong faith, being a member of an amazing family, being a loyal friend, and having an impact on society by paying ?it? forward.?
