A woman who accused the famous boxing legend Mike Tyson of raping her in the 1900s dropped the case without financial compensation. Mike Tyson Rape Case Dropped Without Financial Compensation: Daniel Rubin Confirms 

Daniel Rubin who was the attorney of Mike Tyson in this case confirmed the news. He reported in his statement that the woman’s attorney had informed him that the Plaintiff was withdrawing her complaint. The letter was reportedly dated 7th of March 2025. It addressed the judge Mitchell Katz who was hearing both sides. It is officially confirmed that the rape case is now dropped without any financial compensation. This means Tyson does not have to pay the $5 million the woman demanded.

Darren Seilback’s Statement 

Darren Seilback who is the attorney representing the woman in the case did not make any immediate statement about the withdrawal. However, on the 11th of March 2025, he expressed his disappointment through an official statement. Darren also informed through his statement that the court did not allow them to amend their pleadings in the case. This led to his client’s case getting dismissed over procedural grounds. He also added that they still stand by the client’s account of events. 

What Was The Lawsuit All About?

A woman filed a lawsuit against Mike Tyson, the undisputed heavyweight champion, who raped her in the 1900s. The event allegedly unfolded after they met in a nightclub in Albany. The woman accused Tyson of raping her violently in the back of his limousine. She claimed she suffered from physical, psychological as well as emotional injury over the years. The woman was demanding a financial compensation of $5 million from Mike Tyson. The weightlifting champion denied the allegations. 

Lawsuit Filed Under The State’s Adult Survivors Act

The woman who accused Mike Tyson of raping her filed her lawsuit under the Adult Survivors Act of New York. This act was enacted in the month of May 2022. The act was established to amend the state’s law. It allowed alleged victims of sexual offenses a one-year window to sue over the years or decades-old offenses as well. Therefore, people who couldn’t use their offenders at the time of the offense could use them in the one-year window provided. The one-year window under the act lasted from the 24th of November 2022 to the 24th of November 2023.

Is Tyson A Convicted Rapist?

Apart from the lawsuit filed against him regarding the incident the woman has reported, Mark has already been convicted of rape in a 1992 case. Desiree Washington who was an 18-year-old beauty pageant contestant at the time of the incident, accused Tyson of raping her. Mike argued whatever happened between him and Desiree was consensual. Tyson was found guilty and given a 10-year prison sentence, with four years suspended. However, he was released after serving his term for 3 years in March 1995.
