Martin Luther King Jr. story headed to big screen

DreamWorks Studios has plans to make a movie about the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., to be co-produced by Steven Spielberg.

The studio announced Tuesday that it has acquired the civil rights leader’s life rights from The King Estate. Suzanne de Passe and Madison Jones are also mentioned as producers of the project in a news release.

The studio says the film would be the first theatrical motion picture authorized by the estate using King’s intellectual property as the basis for the story.
