???
As a child, Luc El-Art Severe enjoyed helping others, which made his decision to attend law school a natural fit for him. At just 27 years old, the third-generation Haitian-American has already received a bachelor?s degree in English from Morehouse College, a Juris Doctor from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law, and a certificate in political science-mass media from Brown University. He is a member of the New York State, National and American Bar Associations, and a member of other local bar associations. ?I?ve always had a passion to serve my community and to address the community?s concerns, thus aspiring to be a ?servant of the people,?? Severe explains.
?
Severe is an agent of change in his role as the labor relations officer for a network of five hospital facilities within New York City Health & Hospital Corp. He promotes community advocacy and employee improvement. ?Whether it is?giving a second chance when employees have done wrong or ensuring that we are giving the patients optimal customer service in my role with HHC, I really enjoy what I do,? he affirms.
?
Severe remains active in his community. He is a member of the board of directors for Highlighting Success Inc., a nonprofit that promotes awareness of global contributions by African-American through panel discussions and scholarship fundraisers. He also volunteers with the Metropolitan Black Bar Association and is an engaged member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
?
In his free time, he enjoys playing the violin, golfing and watching sports as he roots for his favorite baseball, football and basketball teams: the Yankees, Giants and Lakers, respectively. ?The world is a possibility if only you?ll discover it,? Severe likes to say, quoting the late African-American novelist, scholar and critic Ralph Waldo Ellison. Clearly, he has made these words an integral part of his practice.
