Founded in 1879 as a black college, Livingstone
College is one of the nation’s 105 Historical Black Colleges
and Universities (HBCUs). Livingstone College is a private, four-year college
affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. Livingstone
College offers programs to award the B.A., B.S., and other degrees. Notable
alumni of this African American university include Ben Coates and Wilmont
Perry, both former NFL players.
