Letters to the Editor – February 2004

Dear Editor:
I?ve been reading The Network Journal for some time and find that you have consistently done an excellent job on each and every issue. The quality of the publication?s content is among the highest in the industry. Of all the issues I have read, however, I have not seen an interview with Cathy Hughes, founder and chairperson of Radio One Inc. Radio One is a billion-dollar enterprise and Cathy Hughes? story is simply inspiring. (She was a low-income, single mother.) If you have done anything on Ms. Hughes, please let me know which issue so that I can obtain a copy.

Editor?s Response.
Dear Ms. Shuy:
We are very familiar with the story of Catherine L. Hughes. While we have been unable to profile her in TNJ, we did publish a story on Radio One in which we interviewed Alfred C. Liggins, III, CEO, president and treasurer. It was the cover story for the July/August 2001 issue of the magazine. Mr. Liggins, Ms. Hughes?s son, succeeded his mother as CEO in 1997.
