    By enactment of the Wallace Patterson Trade School Act of 1947, Lawson State
    Community College opened
    its doors with other black colleges to make post-secondary education available
    to all individuals. As one of the nation’s Historical Black Colleges &
    Universities (HBCUs), Lawson
    State Community
    College, as with other African American
    universities, pursues a mission to provide an excellent education to all its
    students.
