General Counsel
Marketing Research Association
Washington, D.C.
Age: 35
As a child, LaToya D. Rembert-Lang wanted to be a lawyer. She is now general counsel for the Marketing Research Association in Washington, D.C., a leading trade group. ?My motivation to be a lawyer rested solely on the position that it was an avenue to be an advocate. I wanted to practice? law in Washington, D.C.,? she says. Supreme Court justices Thurgood Marshall, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sandra Day O?Connor inspired Rembert-Lang, but meeting ?legal rock stars? like former Judge Mark P. Painter and Attorney Sharon Zealey as a law? student sealed her career choice. However, she gives much credit to her family for keeping her focused. ?My mother reminds me to work hard and stay humble, but to be thankful for the little things that will lead me to bigger things,? she says. ?My (late) grandmother reminded me that grace and mercy will bring me through any situation that I may encounter.?
