Senior Vice President ? Aon Risk Services Inc. ? New York, N.Y.

Throughout her 23-year career, Kim Green has been responsible for designing innovative risk management, finance solutions and consulting services for Fortune 1000 companies, financial institutions, real estate and industrial enterprises, as well as entertainment businesses. Today, she is senior vice president at Aon Risk Services Inc., a subsidiary of insurance brokerage Aon Corp., Chicago.

?I really like taking on a projects that are a complete disaster and turning them around to profitable well-run organizations. Those skills are the same utilized with our clients. This is probably why I am in the insurance business,? she says.

Previously an underwriter at Chubb Group of Insurance Cos., Green founded her own insurance brokerage in 1990, providing the gamut of insurance services to private, government and personal clients. She joined Aon in 1995 as a way to increase the services available to her clients.

Green?s father, who worked in real estate, and her mother, an educator, taught their three children that excellence is the best deterrent to racism and sexism. They believed that success should be measured by the obstacles you overcome on your way to success, says Green, who earned a bachelor?s degree in marketing from Hampton University and studied at the London School of Business. Her work philosophy has been shaped by a quote by Rosalind Carter, wife of former president Jimmy Carter. ?A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don?t necessarily want to go, but ought to be.? Green also applies this philosophy to her non-profit activities as well, which include volunteer roles on Hampton University?s Board of Directors, The Independent College Fund of New York and The Links. Green is also a member of the Executive Leadership Council.

?I?m allowed to be successful because I have a supportive family,? says Green of her husband and daughter, Jessica. She often draws inspiration from her 13-year-old. ?Jessica is very bright, motivated and competitive. Her success has continued to motivate me.?
