Shawn ?Jay-Z? Carter performed Carnegie Hall to raise money for United Way of New York City and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation on February 6, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. and February 7, 2012 at 9:30 p.m.

Tickets for the shows went on sale on January 30, 2012 with a private sale geared toward corporations and high net-worth individuals, ranging in price from $500 to $2,500 a piece with VIP tickets going for?$5,000 and box seats starting at $15,000. ?
All proceeds will go to the United Way of New York City and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. The Shawn Carter foundation was established and founded by Jay-Z and chief executive is his mother, Gloria Carter in 2003.
These are programs that help “fight poverty, boost on-time graduation rates in underserved New York City schools, and put college within reach for low-income students across the five boroughs?, Jay-Z said in a press conference.
The rapper is the second hip-hop act to perform at Carnegie Hall. Wyclef Jean performed there back in 2001 with Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton and Whitney Houston.
It has been reported that Jay-Z performed hits like ?Song Cry,? ?PSA,? and? ?Glory? the newly released record dedicated to his daughter Blue Ivy. Jay-Z brought Alicia Keys and Nas out as special guests. During the event, he was backed by an orchestra of 30-plus and a band that included Questlove of The Roots and neo-soul singer Bilal.
Jay-Z has ended 2011 with his successful Watch The Throne concert with musical genesis, Kanye West. Now he has begun 2012 with a bang! First came the delivery of his and Beyonce?s daughter and now we?re all are wondering what is in store for Jay-Z?s future. Rumor has it that Jay-Z and Beyonce are looking to collaborate on an album. That should be interesting.
