(SPRING VALLEY, NY) The Jamaican Civic and Cultural Association of Rockland, Inc. (JAMCCAR) is on a mission to create a spectacular evening of warmth, dramatic elegance, fun, fond reminiscence, all with a cultural flair as it celebrates its 22nd Anniversary and commemorates Jamaica?s 50th year of independence on Saturday, August 4, 2012, 8:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Mahwah, 1 International Boulevard, Mahwah, New Jersey. The black tie gala, featuring a cocktail hour with island vibes, a sumptuous plated dinner, a multi-media presentation, the annual scholarship awards, mesmerizing entertainment by the renowned JAMCCAR Ekklipse Steel Band, and dancing to music by Soul Tone Disco With DJ Prentice, will be held under the Distinguished Patronage of the Honorable Herman Lamont, Consul General of Jamaica To New York. The dynamic duo of Mr. Christopher Dobson, a Business Development Manager from The Jamaica Tourist Board and Ms. Jamila Hall McKnight, an Attorney with Jones Day, and a member of JAMCCAR?s Advisory Board will delight attendees as the Master and Mistress of Ceremony.
This gala is the main fundraiser for JAMCCAR?s scholarship fund. Six scholarships will be awarded during the gala. Tickets are $140.00 per person, $1,300.00 for a table of 10 guests, and must be purchased in advance of August 4th. A raffle, and display and sale of Jamaican art with artists Paul Blackwood and Courtney Morgan, are activities that will also be a part of JAMCCAR?s gala.
