It seems Tyler Perry, the multi-talented writer/director/producer of such films as Why Did I Get Married? and For Colored Girls and TV shows House of Payne, isn’t exactly strapped for cash these days. According to Forbes, Perry took the top spot on the magazine’s annual list of Highest-Paid Men In Entertainment after a year that saw him bring home $130 million from his various projects.
Perry, most notable for his work behind the camera, will once again don his acting cap as he assumes the role previously held by Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman, playing Detective Alex Cross in the upcoming film adaptation of James Patterson’s I, Alex Cross novel.
To take the top spot on this year’s list, Perry beat out producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who made $113 million this past year on the backs of new installments of such box-office runaways as Pirates of the Caribbean and Transformers, and director/producer Steven Spielberg, whose work earned him the third place spot on the list with $107 million.
