MENLO PARK, Calif. (AP) ? Israeli President Shimon Peres is visiting Facebook headquarters to launch a page on the social networking site to reach out to young Arabs.
The 88-year-old leader is scheduled to meet Tuesday with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as part of a four-day swing through Silicon Valley. Touring top tech companies’ offices has become a rite of passage for politicians and celebrities passing through the region.
Peres’ staff says his Facebook page will be aimed at Arab youth from countries that lack diplomatic ties with Israel.
The Israeli president will also take questions from the site’s users during an interview with Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg that will be streamed live online.
Peres’ itinerary includes meetings with venture capitalists and Google to push ties with Israel’s tech industry.
