Indianapolis is emerging as a center of frequent shootings in the US. It is alarming that, within a few days, another Indianapolis Shooting incident has been recorded in public. The last incident, except the one that occurred on Monday, was recorded on Saturday, as per WIBC. Such incidents that have occurred in such proximity pose a risk, and immediate attention is required on this topic. These frequent Indianapolis Shooting show the lack of security in public places and its rising crime rates. While the police arrive at the crime scene, the suspects easily conceal themselves and any evidence the police may use. It shows uncertainty and a high risk for the public residing here, as it opens up the possibility of getting shot when you step out of your home.

What happened on Monday in Indianapolis?

On Monday, 23 June, a shooting incident was recorded at a public place in Indianapolis in which three people were found injured. This incident occurred at the Monument Circle in Indianapolis, where several other cases like this have been reported earlier as well. This is a serious issue when such cases have happened at the same spot earlier as well. Even after repeated incidents, the lack of security in this area shows the carelessness of the Police Department.

The incident, according to the police, occurred around 1:45 am when some officers heard the gunshots near Monument Circle. The officers were at Gainbridge Fieldhouse when this incident happened. On reaching the site of the incident, the police found two men and a lady on the ground struggling with their bullet wounds. They were immediately taken to the nearest hospital for their treatment. As per the police, all three victims are in a stable condition now and will recover soon.

Investigation by the Indiana Metropolitan Police Department

According to police, many people were present during the incident, but they haven’t found any suspects till now. Other than that, many witnesses have agreed to record their statements to the police so that a thorough investigation can happen. Some people are detained, but their responses have posed a confusion for the police about their involvement in this case.

Other than that, on Officer Brown’s command, the Monument Circle is temporarily closed for investigation purposes. Moreover, it won’t be functional until the police gives a thumbs up. At the crime scene, a firearm is recovered along with some shell casings, which could mean something in their investigation.

Monument Circle, which is situated on the intersection of South Meridian and West Washington Street, has been reported for such incidents multiple times. However, the police insist that the public not panic and that it was an isolated incident. They have also assured public that no threats are there for the public to pass by the area.

The police is continuing to investigate the area at Monument Circle and around for a few hours. They have also insisted that if anybody has any insights to recount the incident, they step forward to help the police. The public who wants to record their statements on the incident are welcome to contact the police at (317) 327-3475 or (317) 262-8477.

Conclusion

As disturbing as this incident is, it has opened new problems for the police department in Indianapolis. The repeated reports of such incidents have caused the public to rethink their safety. No one wants them or their loved ones to lie on the ground, lifeless, and become a case number in the dusty files of the police department. It is quite justified to fear death when you want to live and step out of the house, thinking you’d survive or not. Even if the police assure the public that no such threats exist, it is not possible to be 100% sure. The Police Department needs to elevate its security methods in the city and discover the crime sources to build trust among the people residing here.
