REDMOND, Wash. (AP) ? Nintendo Corp. said Friday that households with its 3DS handheld gaming device and Wii console will be able to use them to watch shows on the Hulu Plus streaming TV and movie service by the end of the year.
Nintendo’s devices can already stream movies and TV shows from the competing subscription-based service that Netflix Inc. offers.
Hulu.com is owned by Walt Disney Co., News Corp., Comcast Corp. and Providence Equity Partners and has been expanding the range of devices where consumers can play content from its $7.99-per-month Hulu Plus service.
The free version of Hulu is generally available only on devices with a PC Web browser.
The Nintendo 3DS has a 3-D screen, but the Hulu content will be 2-D.
