Deal with StressLearn how to handle stress to be more successful in life.

Stress is a normal part of most people’s lives. However, people deal with stress in different ways. Some can handle it satisfactorily while others exhibit the fight or flight response whenever they feel overwhelmed by the situation.

According to the results of a survey conducted by TalentSmart, a leading provider of emotional intelligence (EQ) tests, training and consulting, 90% of successful people know how to manage their emotions during stressful times. They understand that they have the power to control the events in their lives and do not allow events to control them.

Successful people have the ability to remain calm no matter what life throws at them. This gives them the ability to think clearly and the power to do what they need to do during such situations. So, how do successful people deal with stress? Here are some of the most common strategies they use to keep their emotions under control in times of stress.

They practice gratitude. Successful people have one thing in common ? they have a more positive outlook in life and are extremely thankful for what they have. Having a positive mindset can lower the level of the stress hormone cortisol by up to 25% and make you happier and more productive.

They understand that nobody is perfect.
Instead of striving for perfection (which is impossible to attain), successful people concentrate on achieving progress. They understand that failure is inevitable so they try to learn everything they can from the situation and move on. Let go of your desire for perfection and you can set yourself free from undue stress.

They stick to a routine. Sticking to a routine reduces the number of decisions you have to make on a daily basis. This can help you save your sanity for making big decisions that count more.

They see the big picture. Successful people focus on the bigger picture and do not spend their time worrying about the little things. This mindset allows them to concentrate on what they want to accomplish and what they need to do to achieve it, and keep them from stressing out over the petty details.

They take regular time off. You can significantly reduce your stress levels by going offline and turning your phone off on weekday evenings. If this is not possible, try going offline and cut the cord during weekends. You will be amazed at how refreshing these regular breaks can be.

There are several other ways by which you can handle stress more effectively but these strategies can help you get started on the right track.
