Mahisha Dellinger already has her hands full with her successful business. As CEO of CURLS, she has built one of the most recognized natural hair care products company in the U.S.
Dellinger founded CURLS in 2002 in Elk Grove, California by CEO, Mahisha Dellinger. Now greatly expanded, CURLS products can be found nationwide in Target, Sally?s Beauty Supply, Rite Aid, CVS and Duane Reade.? It’s been an interesting journey to the top for Dellinger.
But now she is going to share her story on how she went from the projects to running a major natural hair care products company. Her new book, Against All Odds, promises to be an inspiring read. Her first book, it is published by Black Girl Publishing.
“I have considered writing a book for some time now.? I decided to move forward with it after speaking to a group of students at my alma mater. After my speech, a line was formed. It was composed of rape survivors, struggling students that came from less than fortunate backgrounds, single/unwed mothers, first generation college graduates, etc…we all had something in common.? They were moved by my story of triumph and willingness to share my story.? A few were brought to tears. I realized then, my story could help others, just like me,” explains Dellinger.
According to Dellinger, she wrote the book not only to just tell her story but to hopefully give a blueprint of success for others to follow.? When asked what she wants people to come away with after reading the book, she replied: “Inspired, determined and motivated to change the hand of cards they were dealt.” She herself has been inspired by business success stories. “I love to read…all kinds of books.? Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki is one of my favorite books. It changed how I view money, investments and my business endeavors,” she points out.
She has also learned valuable business lessons on her own.? “Being an entrepreneur has taught me a lot of lessons about myself, life, business and growth.? The key lesson I learned, as simplistic as it may sound, is patience.? Growing a business from top to bottom….from nothing to a multimillion dollar company, took time, hard work, resilience and a lot of patience,” she shares.
