Grains futures, livestock prices climb

CHICAGO (AP) ? Grains futures jumped in early trading Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for September delivery shot up 34 cents to $7.19 a bushel; December corn soared 30 cents to $7.185 a bushel and November soybeans climbed 41.5 cents to $13.43 a bushel. December oats were unchanged at $3.51 a bushel.

Beef and pork futures also gained on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

October live cattle jumped 1.55 cent to $1.19 a pound; September feeder cattle added 0.40 cent to $1.355 a pound; while October lean hogs climbed 1.40 cent to 88.25 cents a pound.
