Fortnite has been a powerhouse in the gaming industry for years, but of late, the game has been experiencing several problems that annoy players. From glitches to contentious updates, the game is no longer as seamless as it once was.

Server Outages Interrupt Gameplay

One of the largest issues plaguing Fortnite at the moment is server outages. On March 28, thousands of players complained about being unable to queue into games. The ‘Discovery’ menu, through which players could choose a game mode, malfunctioned. Epic Games responded promptly, saying they were looking into the issue. Yet, numerous players waited for hours with no resolution in view. This problem reflected a significant flaw in Fortnite’s server stability, which has become increasingly problematic among the community.

Matchmaking Failures Frustrate Players

The other problem is the constant matchmaking failures. The players end up in lobbies and cannot proceed to play the game. It is frustrating for the players who want to play competitively or just casually with friends. Even though Fortnite prides itself on having massive battles, these failures render it virtually impossible to enjoy the game.

Content Updates Cause More Problems

Other than the technical problems, Fortnite has also been criticized because of its regular content updates. New skins, collaborations, and items are exciting, but at times, they disrupt the balance of the game. A prime example is the Mortal Kombat collaboration, which brought in new cosmetics but did nothing to address the ongoing in-game problems. Players complain that Epic Games prioritizes monetization over enhancing the overall gameplay experience.

Competitive Arena Riddled with Controversy

Fortnite’s competitive aspect is also under fire. The FNCS (Fortnite Champion Series) has been under fire for its strict regulations and banned-player controversies. In one case, a pro player was banned, sued, and made to issue an apology for account sharing. This type of enforcement leads to an unstable situation where some players are unfairly penalized while others get away with loopholes.

Updates Take Out Fan Favorites

In addition, game updates also turn off vital features at times. A week or so prior to the March 28 outage, Fortnite disabled the well-liked OG Season 3 update temporarily. The move left several players disheartened, as they had been looking forward to playing a nostalgic version of the game. Epic Games tends to make changes without adequate communication, which creates confusion and frustration among the players.

Skill-Based Matchmaking Remains Unbalanced

Lots of Fortnite players also gripe about matchmaking inconsistencies. Skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) has been a hotly debated topic for years. Some players are dealt with way too tough opponents, while other players deal with matches that are too easy. This creates an unpleasant experience, particularly for casual players who want to simply have fun.

The Future of Fortnite

All in all, the most advisable way to remain updated about the status of Fortnite is through following the Fortnite Status account. It can only hope that Epic Games puts higher importance on correcting such problems prior to releasing additional cosmetic updates. Meanwhile, Fortnite players will just have to bear the occasional disappointing encounter while hoping for better.
