First lady Michelle Obama is leading a group women at the peak of their fields on visits to Washington-area high schools to talk to students about their career goals and achieving their dreams.
The group includes Grammy Award-winning singers Alicia Keyes and Sheryl Crow, sister-actors Debbie Allen and Phylicia Rashad, actress Fran Drescher, athletes Dominique Dawes and Lisa Leslie Lockwood, and Mae Jemison, the first black woman to travel into space.
Mrs. Obama says that pulling together a day like this has been a dream of hers for some time.
She visited Anacostia High School on her own; the group fanned out to 10 other schools in DC and the suburbs.
Later Thursday the star-powered group will return to the White House for dinner with Mrs. Obama and another group of DC school students.
