Mia Love Political Career

Mia Love started her political career in 2003 after she won a seat in Saratoga Springs which is a growing community located 30 miles south of Salt Lake City. She then lost a bid against Jim Matheson in a district that covers a string of Salt Lake City suburbs. She ran again in two years and won. Mia declared how her win defied the suggestions that said a Black, Republican, Mormon woman couldn’t win a congressional seat in overwhelmingly white Utah. She faced reelection in 2016 and skipped the Republican National Convention. This was after a recording of Trump came out where he was making lewd comments about groping women. She endorsed Texas Sen but later dropped out. Love lost the elections while seeking the third term by fewer than 700 votes to Ben McAdams.
