Fayetteville State University, one of the Historical Black Colleges
& Universities (HBCU), has become a highly respected postsecondary
institution within the University
of North Carolina System.
Fayetteville State is one of the fully accredited African American universities
to offer courses in a number of fields. Like many black colleges, FSU has a
number of alumni who have become professional ball players, such as Blenda Gay
and Sylvester “Junkyard Dog” Ritter.
