Erika Irish Brown was named chief diversity officer at Goldman Sachs.

Brown joins Goldman after having served as the first-ever diversity and inclusion officer at Bloomberg. Prior, she was the senior vice president and enterprise diversity recruiting and program management executive at Bank of America. Before that, she led diversity efforts at Lehman Brothers.

In a 2013 interview with The Network Journal when she was honored with a “25 Influential Black Women in Business” award, Brown said, “With the work that I do in diversity and inclusion, I value every small victory because I’m helping women and people of color achieve their career aspirations at the highest levels.”

A Brooklyn native, she is vice-chair of the board of the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation and serves on the board of the Council of Urban Professionals.

Brown received her bachelor’s degree in economics from the State University of New York at Albany and her M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
