ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) ? Emcore Corp., which makes semiconductor-based components for broadband, fiber optic, solar and other markets, said Monday that it expects flooding in Thailand will have a significant impact on its business the rest of the year.

The Albuquerque-based company said flooding penetrated a contractor’s production facility over the weekend, submerging some production and testing equipment. All Emcore employees in the area are safe, the company said.

Emcore said it hasn’t made a full assessment of the damage, but believes it’s unlikely that production can resume this quarter. Emcore said it will have trouble meeting customer demand for fiber optic products, but it’s ramping up production in China and other areas.

The company’s solar division wasn’t affected by the floods.

Emcore’s stock rose a penny to close at $1.10.
