WASHINGTON (AP) ? EBay Inc. spent $385,000 during the third quarter to lobby the federal government about issues such as organized retail crime, online privacy and online sales tax collection, according to a quarterly disclosure report.
That is 9 percent more than the $353,850 the San Jose, Calif.-based online marketplace operator spent in the previous quarter and 6 percent less than the $411,450 eBay spent in the year-ago quarter.
EBay also lobbied on issues related to online retail job creation, online security, greenhouse gas emissions and intellectual property.
In the third quarter, eBay lobbied Congress, the White House, the departments of Commerce, Treasury, Agriculture, Homeland Security, the Federal Reserve, the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Communications Commission, the International Trade Administration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Office of Management and Budget, the Small Business Administration and the U.S. Trade Representative, according to the report filed Oct. 20 with the House clerk’s office.
