CLEVELAND (AP) ? Jurors in Cleveland have returned for their second day of deliberations in the trial of a man accused of killing 11 women.
The case of 51-year-old Anthony Sowell (SOH’-wehl) went to the jury on Wednesday, 3 1/2 weeks after testimony began.
Sowell has pleaded not guilty to an 83-count indictment, which includes charges of aggravated murder, kidnapping and corpse abuse. He faces the death penalty if convicted.
The jury is being sequestered at a hotel each night until a verdict is reached.
Assistant Prosecutor Pinkey Carr told jurors during Wednesday’s closing arguments that Sowell is “sneaky and conniving” and enjoyed choking women. The defense says investigators failed to produce DNA evidence linking Sowell to the killings.
