In a March 9 story about homeowners’ opportunities for tax savings, The Associated Press erroneously reported that a tax credit is available to individuals who install energy-efficient appliances. There is no such tax credit for homeowners. The story also said erroneously that the IRS typically requires that the first $500 in disaster losses be deducted from any claims. The current amount is $100.
