Cheyney University of Pennsylvania is the oldest of the Black
Colleges and African American Universities on the list of Historical
Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU) in America. It was founded in
1837 by Richard Humphreys.
Cheyney offers baccalaureate degrees in
over 30 disciplines and a Master’s Degree in education. Graduates of
Cheyney have assumed leadership roles in the fields of government,
education, law, science, and journalism, as well as other areas.
