Candace L. Randle
Director, Corporate Communications & Public Affairs
The RLJ Companies
Born and raised in Arkansas, Candace L. Randle has always had a passion for politics. Her journey has taken her into parallel roles in government, public affairs and communications, and she has never looked back. She remarks, “You never know where your career path is going to take you.” Being focused, having a plan and being flexible are key to her success. Today, Randle is the director of corporate communications and public affairs at The RLJ Cos., responsible for developing and executing communications programs that describe and promote the chairman, Robert L. Johnson (founder of BET), and the 12 affiliated companies within the RLJ portfolio. RLJ owns or holds interests in businesses operating in hotel real estate investment, private equity, financial services, asset management, automobile dealerships, sports and entertainment. “The position that I have is perfect for someone with my background in politics and media. I’m constantly learning and working across various industry sectors,” Randle says.
Prior to joining The RLJ Cos., Randle worked extensively in the political, public affairs and media arenas, earning coverage in top outlets including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, and The Washington Post. Her career highlights include serving on the political team for the Hillary Clinton for President Campaign and on the campaign writing team for the Al Gore Presidential Campaign in 2000. She has worked in various government and media capacities, including with U.S. Senator Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) and Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe, and, in the private sector, in government affairs for Entergy Corp.
Randle graduated with honors from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in political science and history, and from the University of Arkansas with a master’s of public administration degree. PRWeek selected her as a 40 Under 40: New Trailblazer honoree in 2013.
