C. Annette Kelton
Managing Director, Associate General Counsel
Goldman Sachs & Co.,New York City
As managing director and associate general counsel, C. Annette Kelton heads the Equities Sales and Trading Coverage Group at Goldman Sachs, which guides the firm and its clients through the tricky terrain of regulatory and legal issues surrounding equities products and services. ?My team and I often deal with very complex and nuanced sets of facts,? says Kelton. ?In these situations, there is no greater satisfaction than the one that comes from helping our clients achieve their business goals within the spirit and letter of the law.?
Kelton earned a bachelor?s degree in business administration from Boston University and a law degree from Howard University School of Law. She went from federal clerk for the Hon. William F. Hall Jr. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania to serve as assistant district administrator in the Philadelphia District Office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission before joining Goldman Sachs in 1999.? Following her passion for finance law and having access to influential mentors like Hall and David J. Greenwald, Goldman Sachs? deputy general counsel, helped to give her a successful career.
Bearing in mind Hall?s lessons on the importance of using her knowledge, talent and influence to better her community, Kelton chairs the Buck County Chapter of the Links Inc. Youth Council, is a member of the Jersey Explorer Children?s Museum Board of Trustees, and educates youth about career opportunities in financial services through efforts such as Wall Street 101, a Jack and Jill of America Inc. event sponsored by Goldman Sachs.
Kelton reserves weekends for reconnecting with her family, her No. 1 support group. ?My husband, kids and I are like a partnership,? she says. ?We all know how to be flexible, how to pitch in and when to support each other.?
