LONDON (AP) ? British forces in Afghanistan have detained two U.K. citizens, officials said Thursday.
The Foreign Office confirmed that 2 British nationals were detained and said embassy staff were providing assistance. It did not say where in Afghanistan the two were detained, when or why.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed British forces made the arrests but said it was not prepared to comment further.
British media reports offered differing accounts of what led to the arrests ? some saying the two were suspected of fighting for the Taliban while others claimed the individuals may have been planning attacks Britain.
