NAME: Jonathan “Jony” Ive
EDUCATION: B.A. from Newcastle Polytechnic (now Northumbria University) in Newcastle, England.
CAREER: After finishing school, Ive co-founded London-based design company Tangerine, designing products ranging from combs to power tools. He joined Apple Inc. as a senior designer in 1992. When chief designer Robert Brunner left the company in 1996, he suggested that Ive, then 29, take over his post. When Steve Jobs returned to Apple Inc. after a 12-year exile in 1997, he named Ive senior vice president of industrial design.
NOTABLE PRODUCTS: The iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad.
