Bikram “Hot Yoga” Guru Speaks in Harlem for First Time

Bikram Yoga East Harlem Presents the Founder of ?Hot Yoga?, Bikram Choudury, to Speak in Harlem for the First Time Ever!

Harlem will get a whole lot hotter when the founder of Bikram (?Hot?) Yoga, Bikram Choudhury, arrives in Harlem for the first time ever to speak at The Riverside Church of New York?s South Hall.
The controversial hot yoga guru, who copyrighted his 26 classic Hatha Yoga postures and two breathing exercises performed in a heated room and who generally is referred to by just his first name, Bikram, will visit and speak in Harlem at the request of Harlem born and raised sisters and business partners, Stephanie Pope Caffey and Jennifer Pope, owners of Bikram Yoga East Harlem. Their studio is located at 4 East 116th Street, between Fifth and Madison Avenues on the 2nd and 3rd floors in New York.

Bikram yoga is one of the fastest growing styles of yoga with currently over 500 Bikram studios worldwide and over 20,000 Bikram yoga practitioners in the New York City area alone. The heat enables a person to stretch more easily while assisting the removal of toxins from the body. Each class is 90 minutes and is ideal for every level of student from the inexperienced beginner to the advanced practitioner. Bikram Yoga revitalizes, reorganizes, rejuvenates and restores every system of the body, enabling optimum physical performance.

Over 500 people are expected for the lecture, with Bikram enthusiasts coming from as far away as Canada to hear him speak. Attendees will be greeted in the lobby by several businesses and associations including Zico Coconut water, Experience Harlem, The Hue-Man Bookstore and The Mount Morris Park Community Improvement Association. The Riverside Church of New York?s South Hall is located at 490 Riverside Drive @ 120th Street. General admission is $50. For more info or to purchase tickets call 212-369-1830 or visit
