BET Promotes Constance Orlando to SVP, Specials, Music Programming & News

Constance M. OrlandoConstance M. Orlando was promoted to senior vice president of Specials, Music Programming and News at Black Entertainment Television (BET) Networks. In this role, she leads the teams responsible for ?The BET Awards,? ?Hip Hop Awards,? ?The BET Honors,? ?Celebration of Gospel,? and ?Black Girls Rock!?

Also in this role, she is charged with launching the ?BET Truth Series,? a series that will produce original documentaries to include ?Katrina 10 Years Later? and?? ?Muhammad Ali: The People?s Champ.?

In a recent interview, Orlando told that her prior role was as vice president of Original Programming at BET where she was a part of the network?s largest expansion into original programming in its history, including scripted hit series ?The Game,? which scored record-breaking ratings.

Before joining BET, Orlando, who currently serves on the Advisory Board for Clark Atlanta University?s TV department as the Programming Committee Chair, launched her own full service production company, CMO Productions. Not long after, CMO struck a partnership with music icon and businessman Jay-Z to produce the first of its kind, direct-to-video movie soundtrack ?The Streets is Watching.????

A graduate of Syracuse University and a recipient of six NAACP awards, Orlando was named a NAMIC ?Top 40 Under 40? as one of cable?s top executives.??
